Tributes to Someone Special

These tributes/funds have been set up to honor someone.  Proceeds from each fund are dedicated to the students and work of Justice and Soul Foundation.

Shawn Bower-Moore
Donate in Shawn’s memory

In loving memory of Shawn R. Bower-Moore, who passed in October 2024, we honor the spirit and generosity that he shared with everyone he met. Those close to Shawn would attest to his selflessness and kindness, often saying he’d give the shirt off his back if he thought it would help someone in need.

Shawn began his journey as a hairstylist in a small salon on Whidbey Island, WA. With a deep passion for his craft and grand aspirations, he set his sights on Seattle, WA, where, in 1987, he joined Gene Juarez. Over time, he rose from floor stylist to an esteemed leader within the company, serving as one of the lead trainers at the Gene Juarez Academy.

Shawn’s career took him to remarkable heights; he styled for numerous fashion magazines, advertisements for several large companies, and even graced the New York Fashion Show with his talent.

However, his true calling lay in giving back. Driven by a desire to create lasting change, Shawn found a second home in the mission of Justice and Soul, a nonprofit dedicated to helping survivors of sex trafficking gain a new lease on life by learning professional hairstyling.

On our very first date, Shawn spoke passionately about Justice and Soul’s mission, and his commitment only grew stronger over time. He devoted countless hours to managing the backstage production of their Fashion Soulstice event, which raises awareness and funds to further their cause. In preparation to volunteer as an educator in Cambodia, Shawn saved meticulously, both financially and through his accrued paid time off, so he could dedicate himself fully to this cause he loved.

Though Shawn is no longer with us physically, his spirit lives on through the lives he touched and the community he cared for so deeply. In remembrance of his dedication, his family, friends, colleagues, and Justice and Soul have established this tribute page to honor his legacy of compassion and selflessness.

We invite you to continue Shawn’s work by donating to Justice and Soul in his name, carrying forward his mission of generosity and hope.

Our community recently lost a talented stylist and an amazing caring person, Bethany Peltier. For as long as Bethany could remember, she wanted to be a stylist. She has been part of the beauty industry since 2009 and began her career at Obadiah Salon 10 years ago.   Read More>>
